2020 USA Research in International Business and Finance Conference

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and Elsevier’s Research in International Business and Finance (RIBAF) invite you to participate in the 2020 USA Research in International Business and Finance Conference at BGSU on Friday, September 25, 2020. This one-day conference will offer participants an opportunity to present current research and receive well-tailored constructive feedback, as well as to engage with other scholars for future collaborations.
We invite both theoretical and empirical papers, using quantitative or qualitative methods, in all areas of finance and financial economics. Cross-country and international studies as well as cross-disciplinary studies are preferred, but single-country and regional studies are also welcome.
SPECIAL PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY:
Selected papers presented at the conference will be invited for submission to a special issue of RIBAF. All submissions to the special issue of RIBAF are subject to the standard RIBAF review process. RIBAF, published by Elsevier, is a double-blind peer-viewed journal and is indexed by SSCI, SCI, RePEC, and JEL, with a Cite Score of 1.76, and an Impact Factor of 1.47. The keynote address for the conference will be delivered by William B. Elliott, Edward J. and Louise E. Mellen Chair in Finance, Professor of Finance, John Carroll University; Co-Editor of the Journal of Financial Research.
BEST PAPER AWRDS
The conference will offer three separate $1000 best-paper awards: 1) best paper in finance; 2) best paper in the cross-disciplinary field of finance and international business; and 3) best doctoral-student paper. The conference will also offer a runner-up award of $500 in each of the above three categories.
PAPER SUBMISSION TO RIBAF CONFEENCE
The original submission deadline April 15, 2020 is now extended to May 31. There is no submission fee. Please submit a PDF version of papers to:firstname.lastname@example.org. All submissions will be double-blind reviewed, and authors of accepted papers will be notified by June 30, 2020.
NOTE: The submission deadline for the USA RIBAF Conference has been extended to May 31, 2020. Authors of papers that have already been submitted will receive decision notifications well ahead of the extended deadline. After April 15, we will begin processing submissions as they come in.
Early registration fee for the conference is $100 by June 30, 2020 (extended to July 15), after which a regular registration fee is $150. The registration fee includes coffee breaks, dinner on Thursday, September 24, and luncheon on Friday, September 25. Here is the link for online registration.
ADDITIONAL WORKSHOP AND PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY PRIOR TO THE RIBAF CONFERENCE:
One day prior to the USA RIBAF conference, Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and Elsevier’s Research in International Business and Finance (RIBAF) will host a one-day workshop dedicated to research on Chinese markets and institutions on Thursday, September 24, 2020
This special issue of RIBAF dedicated to investigation of Chinese markets and institutions will be edited by John Goodell (Editor-in-Chief, RIBAF), Wei Huang (China Area Editor, RIBAF), and Mingsheng Li (Associate Editor, RIBAF).
To submit, please visit the RIBAF homepage: https://www.journals.elsevier.com/Research-in-International-Business-and-Finance, and select “BGSU China Markets Workshop.” NB: For those papers invited to the workshop, one author must attend for the paper to continue to be eligible for the special issue. All submissions to the special issue of RIBAF are subject to the standard RIBAF review process.
Early registration fee for the Workshop is $100 by the extended deadline of July 15), 2020, after which a regular registration fee is $150. Workshop attendees are exempt from the registration fee for the USA RIBAF Conference and are encouraged to attend the Conference, but RSVP to confirm attendance for the USA RIBAF Conference is required.
Workshop participants can also submit a different paper from their Workshop papers for consideration for the USA RIBAF Conference and best paper award.

Bowling Green State University is located in Bowling Green, Ohio, USA, just adjacent to Interstate 75 (I-75). It is a convenient 70-minute drive from Detroit Metro international airport (DTW). DTW is a hub of Delta Airlines and serves many other airlines, which offer many direct flights to and from Asia. DTW is also a convenient connecting hub via Toronto, Chicago and other locations, for flights from Europe, North America, and South America. DTW also serves many rental car companies, taxi services, and ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft. Local attractions within a 30-90-minute drive include the world-renowned amusement park Cedar Point, Henry Ford Museum, Hollywood Casino Toledo, Imagination Station (formerly COSI) Toledo, Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Zoo, Toledo Botanical Garden, National Museum of Great Lakes, and Lake Erie shoreline and islands, to name a few.
Several moderately priced hotels are within walking distance to the BGSU campus and the conference site including Best Western Falcon Plaza, Hampton Inn Bowling Green, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, and Holiday Inn Express & Suites. More information about hotel lodging with a discounted price will be provided for the conference participants later.
